Close on the heel of the police constable assault case in JJ Nagar, two more constables attached to Kodigehalli police station were attacked by an armed gang of four who even snatched one of their rifles before escaping from the spot.

The incident occurred in Tata Nagar in Kodigehalli around 2 am.

Constables Paramesh and Siddappa who were on night patrol on their Cheetah bike received a message from the control room about a gang moving around suspiciously.

The duo reached the spot and tried to nab the gang members, but the miscreants attacked the policemen with iron rods and knifes, said the police.

The constables fell on the ground sustaining injuries. One of the gang members snatched a loaded rifle to prevent cops from shooting them and sped away, added the police.

The injured policemen alerted the control room following which reinforcement rushed to the spot and shifted them to hospital.

Soon after the incident, check points were set up and the police began combing in and around Kodigehali to nab the assailants.

"We have formed special teams to track down the gang and nab them soon," said Additional Commissioner of Police, Seemanth Kumar Singh.
It may be recalled that 50-year-old constable Rajendra was attacked by an armed gang in JJ Nagar in the wee hours of Wednesday.
