Last Updated 20 January 2018, 17:50 IST

JD(S) rebel leader KHarish Gowda said that he will definitely contest from the Chamaraja Assembly segment in the upcoming elections either as an independent candidate or from any other political party. The JD(S) has already declared former vice-chancellor K S Rangappa as its candidate.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Harish Gowda said he has been working for the JD(S) party since 2009 but now, the party leaders have sidelined him. "The party has announced former vice-chancellor K SRangappa, who has no political background as its candidate from the constituency. Thus, Ihave decided to contest either independently or from any other political party," he said.

Gowda said he reposes faith in JD(S) president HDDeve Gowda and hopes that he would declare him as the candidate. "Ihave maintained a good rapport with MLAHDRevanna and Ihave his support," he said and added that political developments can never be predicted.

Gowda said, "A few BJPand Congress party leaders have invited me to join their party but Ihave clearly told them that I will join the party only if Iget Bform."
