R-day at NMPT, Coast Guard, Corp Bank, KIOCL

The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) celebrated the 69th Republic day with patriotic fervor and gaiety.

The entire port fraternity of NMPT participated in the Republic Day programme held at the stadium ground of the port. A vibrant parade by the CISF unit, Panambur, NMPT Fire Service, Scouts and Guides of KV No-1 Panambur and NMPT School gave momentum to the proceedings.

NMPT in-charge chairman Suresh P Shirwadkar, on the occasion, urged the port fraternity rekindle the values instilled in the society by the founding fathers of the nation and contribute in every manner to the growth of India.

He spoke on the growth of NMPT as one of the premier organisations of the country and also how NMPT is implementing the various government projects 'Swachh Bharath' and initiatives to improve the 'Ease of Doing Business".

Children from various schools at Panambur presented cultural programmes.

Impressive parade

An impressive ceremonial parade marked the Republic Day celebrations at Coast Guard, Karnataka, celebrated at its headquarters at Panambur.

On the occasion, Deputy Inspector General S S Dasila, TM, the Commander, Coast Guard, Karnataka, was the chief guest.

He called upon the officers to render selfless service to the country. "We should have honesty, loyalty, dedication and integrity towards our motherland," he said.

The Coast Guard has deputed women officers for the front line duties in aviation branch and hovercrafts, he added.

As a tribute to the contribution by women in services, Coast Guard women officers unfurled the national flag in schools.

Deputy Commandant Deepika Dhiman unfurled the flag at Coast Guard Kindergarten, Kunjathbail and Assistant Commandant Devyani Saraf unfurled the flag at Amrita Vidyalayam, Boloor.

Significance of R-Day

Corporation Bank celebrated 69th Republic Day at its corporate office in Mangaluru.

Bank CEO and Managing Director Jai Kumar Garg unfurled the national flag.

On the occasion, he accentuated the significance of Republic Day. "Republic Day is an occasion to remember the sacrifice made by the freedom fighters for the well being of the citizens," he said. "We can contribute to the welfare of the country by exhibiting sincerity and dedication in our duties."

Garg called upon the bankers to participate in various campaigns which will lead to a movement to bring about positive changes in the society. He also said that bankers play an important role in making the society economically strong and independent. He said the Corporation Bankers should pledge to provide better service to the citizens.

Flair of patriotism

KIOCL CMD M V Subba Rao hoised the tricolor to mark the 69th Republic Day at the Kavoor KIOCL Township ground.

The festive mood of the employees, their dependents and CISF personnel were soaked with patriotism and pride as the national flag was unfurled.

KIOCL general manager Roque D'Souza addressed the gathering. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various sports and other events.
