An international-level army school will be set up in the name of Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna soon, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Friday.
He was speaking after garlanding Rayanna's statue as part of an event organised by Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Pratishthana at Khode circle in the city.
"The state government has already formed Sangolli Rayanna Development Authority. Tenders have been called for works worth Rs 257 crore. It has also been planned to restore the palace of Kittur Rani Chennamma," he said.
Siddaramaiah said Rayanna was known for his loyalty, self esteem and patriotism. He said the government would take measures to spread awareness among the youth about the importance of Rayanna's sacrifice.
