Rajya Sabha member and former Union Minister for Minorities Affairs K Rahman Khan on Saturday said that he had not been approached by the JD(S) leaders seeking his defection to the regional party.
In Saturday's edition, DH carried a report, 'With no Muslim leaders in party, JD(S) wooing those from Congress', stating that the JD(S) had held talks with Khan too.
Stating that there had been no communication between him and the JD(S) leaders, Khan said, "There is an attempt to tarnish my image by some elements. I have been a loyal Congressman for the past 50 years and I have never thought of pursuing my political career in any other party. I am one of those few senior most Congressmen in the state to have not deserted the party for the sake of power. I am in the Congress because of my faith in the party -- not for taking advantage to build a political career," he added.
