Cong leaders help Bangladeshis get Aadhaar cards: Shettar

Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar said on Wednesday that Congress leaders and MLAs in Bengaluru helped Bangladesh nationals residing there to get Aadhaar cards for their votebank politics and they were not concerned about national security.

He told mediapersons here that the Bellandur police had already filed an FIR against seven persons for getting Aadhaar cards by submitting fake documents, based on a complaint given by the Unique Identification Authority of India deputy director.

Such illegal acts were rampant across the state. It is learnt that police officials have submitted a report to their higher police officials, mentioning the role of politicians in such cases and the need for an NIA probe, he said.

The rape and murder of a schoolgirl in Bhalki taluk of Bidar district is an example of 'Love Jihad,' and a judicial inquiry should be ordered into this matter, he noted.

"I will write a letter to the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI regarding the irregularities in importing Malaysian sand and will raise the issue in the Assembly. Sand rate in Malaysia is less, but the government is going to sell it at a much higher price here," Shettar said.

When asked about the Goa Assembly deputy speaker Michael Lobo proposing a resolution against Karnataka in the Mahadayi issue, Shettar said, "it is a wrong move, and Karnataka has its right over the Mahadayi basin water". Both Congress and BJP in Goa and Maharashtra have to come to a consensus for talks, but Karnataka Congress has not taken any initiative in this regard, he charged.
