Paathshaala, which hit theatres on April 16, grossed Rs 10.5 crore worldwide in its opening weekend with Rs 9 crore gross in India and Rs 1.5 crore, approximately, overseas. Starring Nana Patekar, Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia, Paathshaala, was released with 199 prints on 450 screens, including digital screens, across India.

Paathshaala, with its socially relevant story, sheds light on the shortcomings and wrongdoings in today’s education system. Producer Shaira Khan says, “We always wanted to produce a film with a noble thought and we feel that the audiences have accepted the film with open arms.”

Director Milind Ukey added, “We designed Paathshala with a simple story and high emotional quotient due to the seriousness of the film’s subject. This way we have tried to ensure that it will be understood by all levels of audiences in India.” With moving performances by Nana Patekar, Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia, Paathshaala challenges the increasing immoralities and unethical practices in our education system.
