Looking for his valentine, 30-year old Mohit Kumar proposed to a woman, who was sitting alone on a bench at the corner of the park, which was full of young couples on Valentine's Day.

Mohit, to his shock, however, found himself surrounded by cops immediately and seconds later was handcuffed.

The woman to whom he had proposed turned out to be a lady constable though she was in plainclothes. To make matter worse for Mohit, she was deployed with the notorious Anti-romeo Squad of the police.

The incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad town, about 350 kilometre  from here, on Wednesday.

According to police sources here, the lady constable Neelam Devi, a member of the Anti-romeo Squad (a special force to deal with eve-teasers and those who harass women), had been deployed along with other cops at the park, which was popular with the couples.

''The cops were stationed at the park to ensure that the couples, who visited the place, were not harassed by anyone and also that they did not indulge in indecency,'' said a police official in Moradabad.

Mohit, who was also in the park, saw Neelam sitting on a bench and proposed to her. An infuriated Neelam immediately signaled other cops to reach there and the youth was apprehended.

Mohit immediately realised his mistake and sought Neelam's forgiveness with folded hands though without success. He was arrested and sent to jail, sources said.
