BDA to expedite it's Konadasapura innovative township project

Last Updated 16 February 2018, 09:36 IST

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has now decided to expedite the process of developing its first ever innovative township project in Konadasapura.

For this, the BDA has decided to enter into a public-private partnership and call for tenders soon.

"We have 166 acres of land, on which we have started work on the 25 acres earmarked for housing. Work on commercial constructions on the   remaining land will be done by private companies," said a BDA official.

Meetings will be held soon to decide the final nuances on the project. However, in this township no villas will come up. All will be flats.

"It will be a self-sustained complex in the IT and commercial hub of Old Madras Road. Residents need not go elsewhere for their necessities. If this first project is successful, it will be replicated at  Kempe Gowda Layout also,"    the official said.

BDA is keen on developing this township on the lines of private upcoming projects in Okalipuram and Brookefields.

More Flats

This time too, the state government has prioritised  construction of flats, over developing sites in Bengaluru.

While there is a mention of completing works at Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda Layout, government has stated that 10,000 flats will be constructed.

However BDA says that achieving this target is difficult.

"This year we can construct no more than 3,200 flats and villas, of which 600 flats will be constructed in Kempe Gowda Layout. We have also been assigned the construction one BHK flats for the economically weaker sections," the official said.

62 crore for lakes

The cash-starved BDA has also been allocated Rs 62 crore for rejuvenating and fencing 12 lakes of a total of 177 in their purview.  The BDA is yet to decide upon the what lake projects to take up and along what timelines.
