“The committee appointed Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar and MAK Pataudi to discuss and decide with regards to the modalities of withholding three foreign cricketers and four Indian cricketers. After discussing the issue with the franchisees, they’ve been asked to come back to the Board so that a final decision in this regard can be taken,” he said.

The BCCI chief said “the Governing Council will meet after a month, sometime in June, after all the preliminary things are done because most of the members of the Governing Council were unaware of the things happening.”

Asked if he could not have waited for Modi to attend the GC meeting before the suspension order was issued, Manohar simply said: “In my view, the constitution has vested the power in the hands of the BCCI president to suspend an official. Now, every person can have own opinion whether this power was used correctly or not.”
