Airport boarding gates renumbered to avoid confusion

Last Updated 06 March 2018, 20:22 IST

The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has renumbered its boarding gates to avoid confusion and ensure seamless transit for passengers.

All the 14 departure gates at the ground level have been assigned numbers prefixed with 'G' denoting ground. Passengers could now look out for G1, G2 to G14 without worrying about the level, an airport spokesperson said.

Domestic departure gates on the first floor are numbered 1 to 12, while the international departure gates at the same level are assigned numbers 13 to 24 without any prefix. This sequenced numbering pattern will avoid the earlier confusion when passengers had to cross levels.

Arrival bus gates on the ground floor will have numbers prefixed with the letter 'A.' "Renumbering boarding gates will be far more intuitive and with an easy-to-follow sequence. With this, we hope to provide an improved experience to both our passengers and airlines," said a tweet from the airport handle @BLRAirport.
