An SSLC student has been allegedly gang-raped at Nagabenal village in the taluk on Tuesday, reports DHNS from Muddebihal (Vijayapura district).
Members of the public caught Veeresh Kandagal, one of the suspects and handed him over to the police.
The other three suspects have escaped.
After the incident, she has been admitted to the district hospital in Vijayapura.
A woman medical officer, who treated her, said that she is recuperating now.
According to the police, the incident occurred when she was going to school through a banana plantation.
