State Bank of India on Tuesday asked all customers of its associate banks and the Bharatiya Mahila Bank, which merged with SBI last year, to apply for new chequebooks by March 31.

The customers can apply for chequebooks through internet banking, mobile banking and by visiting ATM or the home branch.

"Apply now and avoid inconvenience. March 31 is approaching. The old chequebooks of erstwhile associate banks and the BMB will not be valid after March 31, 2018," the SBI said on its Twitter handle.

Five associate banks of SBI - State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Mysore and State Bank of Patiala and BMB merged with SBI in April last year.

Thereafter, SBI set two deadlines to get the new chequebooks. Once in September and another in December but both the deadlines were extended.

There will be no need to register one's mobile number afresh after the merger but the customers have to register their email ID afresh in OnlineSBI.
