JD(S) is learnt to have extended an invitation to BJP leader V Srinivas Prasad to join the party.
Party's youth wing president Madhu Bangarappa, who met Prasad at his residence in Mysuru, is learnt to have invited the latter to join the party.
Prasad is said to be not comfortable in the saffron party, which he joined in January last year.
The JD(S) has promised him a ticket to contest the polls, if he decides to quit the BJP.
Although Prasad has announced to retire from electoral politics, the JD(S) is trying its luck by wooing the former minister as it is facing a dearth of Dalit leaders in Mysuru, especially after Kalale Keshavamurthy joined the Congress last year.
Prasad represented Nanjangud twice, in 2008 and 2013, on a Congress ticket.
