<p>Former Mangaluru mayor and corporator Mahabala Marla and DCC spokesperson A C Vinay Raj took an exception to a postcard campaign initiated by Horata Samithi under the aegis of a national party inviting poor siteless people to a meeting at Don Bosco Hall in Mangaluru on April 15.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Briefing reporters on Wednesday, Marla said that by inviting poor siteless people for a meeting, the national party is sending a wrong message to the community.</p>.<p class="bodytext">When dialled, the number mentioned in the postcard was answered by a person who said that the office is situated near Nehru Maidan, Marla said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He said that there is a need to check false publicity by political parties during the election.</p>.<p class="bodytext">If the national party leaders attend the said convention of the poor siteless people then the Congress will file a complaint to the Election Commission on the violation of the model code of conduct, he added.</p>.<h4 class="CrossHead">Ashraya scheme</h4>.<p class="bodytext">Further, he said that under the Ashraya yojana, Mangaluru South Assembly constituency had received 4,034 applications till February 10, of which, 930 homeless families, who will be given houses in the G+3 apartments to be built at Shaktinagar in the city.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The foundation for the same has already been laid and the work has been stopped for the time being owing to the model code of conduct.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The authorities have already identified land at Kannagudde and Rajeevnagara to be given to the homeless in Mangaluru South constituency.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A proposal has already been submitted to the state government for approval.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In Mangaluru North constituency, the Ashraya Samithi had received 2,892 applications, of which letters for houses has been given to 600 beneficiaries.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In spite of it, a national party is engaged in false allegations, which is condemnable, he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Further, Marla said that after 2002, administration of the Council of Mangaluru City Corporation has changed several times.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In spite of this, many families had not received title deeds.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The process of issuing title deeds started only in 2017, he said.</p>
