A 35-year-old anthropologist, who went missing from her house in Marathahalli on April 6, was traced to a hotel in Halasuru on Wednesday and was reunited with her family.

Atreyee Majumdar was noticed by the hotel staff who came across the missing person's news that was all over on social media.

Her family and friends had distributed pamphlets with Atreyee's photos and even sought the help of senior police officials to trace her beside lodging a person missing complaint. The hotel staff recognised her from the photographs and informed the police.

According to the police, Atreyee went missing for five days soon after she came back from Toronto.

A senior police officer said she had stayed at two hotels in the city without informing her parents. Inquiries revealed that she had a quarrel with her family before leaving the house.

Atreyee is currently pursuing a postdoctoral fellowship in Toronto after graduating from National Law School in Bengaluru.
