GP polls: 'All printing units busy in Kushalnagar'

The election will be held on May 12 and on Monday, which was the last date for withdrawal of nomination, candidates were seen at the printing press to get their handbills printed after receiving their election symbol. Each and every printing press in Kushalnagar are busy printing materials pertaining to GP election, mainly the hand bills.

Printer N K Mohan Kumar speaking to Deccan Herald, informed that since the hand bill printing orders have come at the last minute and since there is frequent power cuts, printing has not been happening in the way it should have been. In some wards, 3 to 4 candidates have started seeking votes with one hand bill.

The trend in GPs this year is overwhelming. The GPs with strength of 10 to 15 members has over 60 candidates contesting. ST candidate K B Gangamma from Uluguli second ward has been elected unanimously. In some places, same family members were seen contesting in different areas.

In Suntikoppa, Uluguli ward no 1 Fairoz and his wife Rehana, in Ward No 2 A M Raghu and his wife Rani, P M Nabisa and her son Sharief are contesting against each other. On Tuesday morning, many candidates were seen seeking votes. Candidates who have not yet got the hand bills from printing press have started padayathra, seeking votes from people orally. Election Commission has already adopted many methods to conduct free and fair elections and the election officer has urged the people not to fall for any form of luring.
