It is said that the two buses were to leave the village with voters on a tour. The supporters of Gowda who got wind of the proposed “tour” managed to ensure that all the voters alighted from both the vehicles.  The legislator is said to have left the spot on the two-wheeler, leaving his official vehicle there itself.

Violation of code
The protesters later deflated the tyres of the MLA’s vehicle and urged the police to register a case of violation of model code of conduct.

On the other hand, the members of self help groups who had started on the tour alleged that they were on a tour paid for the money collected by the Self-Help Groups and that they were prevented intentionally.

The situation became calm once the police assured of receiving complaints from both the parties.

In an another incident, Taluk Panchayat president V B Udayashankar and Zilla Panchayat member Naganal Somanna and others “foiled” a similar tour attempt near Travellers’ Bungalow.

They alleged that more than hundred people from the hobli were being sent on a tour to Dharmasthala.

A few liquor bottles were found in the bus. It may be recalled that zinc sheets and cement bags worth thousands of rupees were seized by election officials at Pindipapanahalli in the hobli recently. Police have registered complaint and counter-complaint, Circle Inspector of Police Dhananjaya said.
