80 per cent turnout in 15 dists

Mandya witnessed the highest voters’ turnout at 86.47 per cent, while Kodagu recorded the lowest at 71.55 per cent.

As per the final polling statistics made available by the State Election Commission, a total of 96,90,937 voters cast their vote on Wednesday. The first phase of GP polls held on May 8 witnessed 80.23 pc polling. Repolling has been ordered in one polling booth in Hassan and two booths in Haveri district. Repolling will be held on May 15 and the counting process will be taken at the taluk headquarters across the State on May 17.

In Jakinkatti village in Mantravadi gram panchayat limits in Savanur taluk in the district has recorded a rare distinction in the gram panchayat elections held on Wednesday. Out of the 970 voters in the village only 15 have cast their votes. In all there are 510 males and 460 females in the village. Hence the village has recorded the lowest voter turnout of 1.55 per cent.
