'No need for private, foreign varsities'

He was speaking at a seminar on Private and Foreign Universities Bill organised at the city’s post graduate centre, here on Friday and said regarding Foreign universities Bill, there should be a debate at the national level.

However, without giving any scope for such debates, the Union and state governments have gone ahead in trying to set them up, which is regrettable, he said.  The governments by not giving grants to universities supported by them are slowly killing them, he said.

K M Srinivasamurthy presided. D Dominique, H R Naveen Kumar and Shettiganahalli Ambarish spoke. Vedike’s C Anand delivered the keynote address. ABVP’s Gurunath Rajgir, Manjunath, Pushpa, Narayanswamy, V R Ramesh and a number of students participated.
