Kannada directory released

Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde released the directory in English and Kannada versions separately and an updated version of CD containing all BSNL landline numbers of Karnataka.

The BSNL releases the directory every three years. It was last released in 2006-2007. By releasing Kannada version separately, the Bangalore Telecom district HAS became the first telecom district in the country to release a directory in a regional language.

Both the directories have four volumes. All the four volumes of the English directory has 2527 pages and weigh 3.76 kgs, while the number of pages in Kannada directory is 4256 as Kannada letter require more space on pages.

BSNL has about nine lakh landline telephones working in the Bangalore telecom district. One of the four volumes is exclusively printed as information pages as many customers are using the directory for the purpose of obtaining information related to the BSNL services. The directory has been corrected up to  January 31, 2010.

The copies of the directories will be distributed in a few days from now. The directories will be distributed through customer service centres to customers who produce the renewal coupon available in the old directory. The directories will be distributed through vans in various localities in the City. The locality, date and time of distribution will be published in dailies.

Customers can log on to www.bangaloretelecom.com and search for the latest entries either by names or by telephone numbers. After releasing, Hegde stressed the need for a corruption free society.
