New national permit regime

A press release issued by the Transport Department on Saturday, states that the amended rules provide for levy of Rs 1,000 per annum towards the home State’s authorisation fee which has to be paid at the office of the Regional Transport Officer and Rs 15,000 towards consolidated fee per annum per vehicle, authorising the national permit holder to operate throughout the country.

“Accordingly, this consolidated fee of Rs 15,000 shall be deposited by cash or demand draft drawn on State Bank of India (payable at the location where consolidated fee is deposited) through prescribed challan in the designated branch of State Bank of India.”

Goods vehicle owners interested in obtaining the national permit under the new scheme are asked to avail this opportunity to obtain the national permit for uninterrupted movement of goods vehicles throughout the country. Under the new scheme, the national permits are generated through computer and will be delivered to vehicle owners without any inconvenience, the release said.
