Google to shut Nexus One web store

In a post on Google’s official blog, the firm said the web store, which opened in January, had not matched expectations.

“While the global adoption of the Android platform has exceeded our expectations, the web store has not,” Google Vice-President (Engineering) Andy Rubin said in the post. The company said it plans to stop the sale of Nexus One through its web store as it increases the availability of the handset in retail channels. In addition, Google said it would change the focus of its Nexus One store from selling to showcasing a variety of Android phones available globally.
