“Inka vywahar, khaskar Raebareli aur Amethi ke saath kya hai aap khud hi samajh sakten hain” (you know the attitude of the state government especially towards Raebareli and Amethi),” Sonia Gandhi quipped sarcastically while speaking at a meeting at Sareni in Raebareli.

Only a few days ago, Mayawati had alleged that the UPA government was turning a blind eye to the financial requirement of UP for carrying out developmental works.

The UPA chairperson, who is on a three-day visit to her Lok Sabha constituency, alleged that the UP government was not properly utilising the Central funds.

“Though the Centre is providing crores and crores of rupees to the state for development and welfare schemes, I have been told about the problems like shortage of seeds, fertiliser and potable water being faced by the people of UP,” she said.

“The biggest responsibility of the state government is to ensure that the Central schemes are implemented properly,” the Congress chief said.

Asking the people to keep a close watch on how the central schemes were implemented, she also said that the people should seek details of the fund utilisation from the state government.

She said that the Right to Food would soon become a reality in the days to come. It would be made an Act aimed at  benefiting the poor people as they would get grains at low price.

Earlier in the day, the Congress chief inaugurated the building of a newly constructed sub-post office and launched Wi-Max services of BSNL at Dalmau in her constituency.

At many places people complained about the prolonged unscheduled power cuts in the area and about shortage of fertilisers and seeds.
