Verma, Pandey strike twin tons for Jawans

Batting first, Jawans rattled up 498 in 97.4 overs. The foundation for their big total was laid by an aggressive Pandey (103, 109b, 12x4, 2x6) and the equally exciting Verma, who missed a richly-deserved double hundred by a whisker (198, 207b, 23x4, 2x6).

Wicketkeeper-batsman CM Gautam (52) and Nikhil Kashay (40) too chipped in with brisk knocks as Jawans scored at more than five runs per over. K Gautam grabbed six for 137 on an otherwise demoralising day for Jawahar bowlers.

Jawans bowlers too were equally efficient, dishing out a disciplined effort to bundle out Jawahars for a paltry 160 in just 37.1 overs to give their side a massive 338-run innings lead.

 SS Darshan (42) was the top-scorer for Jawahar SC, while left-arm spinner N Vinoo Prasad (3/46) led the Jawans’ bowling charge with medium-pacers Chetan William (2/14) and David Mathias (2/21) providing solid support.

Jawans made 31 for two in their second essay, and earned three points for achieving the innings lead. Jawahar got one point from the match.
