Thalamaddale Sapthaha in Udupi from May 24

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Secretary Murali Kadekar informed that the valedictory ceremony will be followed by ‘Matti Muralidhar Rao’ award ceremony. The award is bestowed on veteran artiste (arthadhari) Bare Keshav Bhat. The Sapthaha will be inaugurated by Paryaya Shiroor mutt Sri Laxmivaratheertha Swamiji. CMC President Dinaker Shetty will preside, he added.

Karnataka Yakshagana Bayalata Academy President Kumble Sunder Rao will preside over the valedictory ceremony. ‘Saptha Sandhana’ will be organised on all seven days of the week. “Sugreeva Sandhana,” “Narada Sandhana,” “Angada Sandhana,” “Maruthi Sandhana,” “Subhadra Sandhana,” “Sanjaya Sandhana” and “Srikrishna Sandhana” will be part of the show, he informed.

The 11th annual general body meet of Yakshagana Kalaranga will be held on May 31. Medical test will be conducted on as many as 500 Yakshagana artists on the occasion. Doctors from Dr A V Baliga Hospital are conducting medical examination on the artists.
Meanwhile, “Thenkuthittu Bhagavathara Kammata” is organised on May 29, Kadekar added.
A renowned ‘Thalamaddale arthadhari,’ 69-year-old Bare Keshav Bhat is a religious scholar. Besides, he has authored more than 15 theatre plays. His collections of stories ‘Haritha’ was published in 1986. He worked as editor for the souvenirs ‘Uddhama’ and ‘Prashanti’. He has also penned down a number of poems.

Yakshagana Kalaranga President Tallur Shivaram Shetty, Vice President S V Bhat, Narayana Hedge and others were present.
