NICE: Gowda to take to streets again

Last Updated 24 May 2010, 19:44 IST

“I will create more awareness among the public on the misdeeds of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE), the project company and the State government in executing the project,” he said. In a press conference on Monday, Gowda alleged the government was hand-in-glove with NICE.

If the government was concerned about safeguarding the interest of the State, it should have filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court based on the stand taken by the PWD, he said.  He also alleged the Advocate General Ashok Harnahalli of keeping the court in dark. When the matter came before the Supreme Court, Harnahalli did not argue from the PWD’s standpoint on the issue, he said.

The chief minister should direct the chief secretary to maintain PWD’s stance in replying to NICE and also bring it to the notice of the Supreme Court. He said the public is awaiting chief minister’s action on the issue.  Any misdeed on the part of the government will only benefit Ashok Kheny of NICE at the cost of the land that belongs to the poor, he said.
