'Legal awareness increasing among women'

She was speaking at the Women law awareness camp jointly organised  by State Women Commission and District Instruction and Education Training department here on Tuesday and said the women should not use law like a sword but instead use it as a shield to protect themselves.

Lecturer C M Leelavathi said the legal awareness is more necessary for women from rural areas than from the cities.  More such programmes should be held to dispel blind beliefs from them. They should be made to understand about  atrocities committed on women in name of religion, she added.

State Women Commission counsellor Arati said there are many programmes which the Women Commission has designed for them and the educated youth should involve themselves to make these underprivileged women aware of these programmes.  
Women Commission family counsellor M Jayamala spoke. Education expert Prof Kodirangappa delivered the welcome address. Prof N Shivaram Reddy, lecturers V Narayanswamy, G P Bahubali and others were present.
