Addressing a meeting of the leaders of Backward Classes, organised by the District BJP Unit in Chikkaballapur he said the BJP government has succeeded in providing reservation  to the backward classes based on the socio-economic factors.

Injustice to BCs
The Central government has accorded 27 per cent reservation for the Backward Classes. Out of this the Union government has decided to allocate 15 per cent of reservation to minorities like the muslims and christians. This would amount to gross injustice to the people belonging to the backward classes. Hence, people belonging to all the communities should protest against its implementation, he suggested.

The role played by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and K S Eshwarappa in providing due representation to people belonging to backward classes in all spheres is highly commendable. Both of them will be felicitated at a huge convention to be held in Bangalore on June 27, he added.

Earlier, people belonging to the backward classes were considered as the bastion of the Congress and the JD(S) alone. However, now the BJP has dealt a severe blow to that image, opined MP P C Mohan.

The BJP government in the State has allocated Rs 2,500 crore for the backward classes. Out of this Rs 500 crore will be allocated for the welfare of the minorities, while Rs 2,000 crore will be utilised for the development of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, he added.

As per the Ranganath Mishra Committee Report 15 per cent of the funds allocated for the Backward Classes should be assigned to the minorities. This will only amount to injustice to the people belonging to the backward classes. Opposing the implementation of the recommendations of the report a protest will be staged , he cautioned.
BJP State Unit President Ravinarayan Reddy, ST Morcha State Unit President Ashok Kumar and others were present at the meeting.
