Rly gangman gets reward for helping survivors

Ahmed, a gangman with the Southern Railways, was checking the railway lines near Gurupur Railway bridge when the Air India Express mishap occurred. Ahmed heard a loud bang and he did not waste a single minute that he rushed to the spot, where the plane was crashed.

When Ahmed reached, he saw three of the passengers Mayan Kutty of Kannur, Krishnan from Uduma in Kasargod and G K Pradeep of Thanneerbavi were screaming for help. However, there were no ambulance or any other vehicles to take them to the hospital. Ahmed dialled his house owner’s number immediately and requested him to bring his car. All the three passengers were taken to SCS Hospital in the city in the car.

Ahmed was tired that he rushed to the mishap spot again to help other victims. He also had helped other survivors Puttur Ismail Abdulla, Mohammed Usman and Ummar Farooq from the spot. Union Minister of State for Railways E Ahmed lauded his efforts and immediately announced a reward of Rs 25,000. Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa too lauded the efforts of Ahmed.
