Addressing the funeral ceremony of Shanthi Olivera who was killed in Mangalore air tragedy, on Tuesday at Gangolly Roman Catholic church near Kundapur, Muniyappa said that though it is impossible to undone the pain that the incident has caused, Congress party under the leadership of AICC Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will stand by the family of the victims completely.

Priest Patrick Crasta conducted prayers. Priest Alphonso D’Lima, former minister Vasanth V Salian, Assistant Commissioner Ramesh K N, Tahshildar Raju Mugera, ZP Member Devananda Shetty and others were present.

The real purpose
Though Muniyappa had visited the district with the only aim of being with the family members of the air crash victims, some local level political aspirants and others failed to understand the importance and need of the visit. Hence, they ended up handing over memorandums to the minister. Some from Nada and Kirimanjeshwara area submitted memorandum demanding railway connectivity to their villages. However, Muniyappa responded positively to the demands. Many felt that the political aspirants should have not spoken to the Minister about their demands during this visit.
