Four members of the family were burnt alive in the Sunday’s accident near Challakere in Chitradurga district, while one more is critically injured.
Sannakeppa had performed the marriage of his daughter Gowramma a week ago. He had three sons and two daughters. Abject poverty had compelled the family members to eke out livelihood in Bangalore. It had become a practice that they used to come to village once a year for Moharam. Sannakeppa had urged his sons to stay back for two more days after marriage.
But the fate had other designs for them. His two sons Marayya Sannakeppa Katigera (17), Ningappa Sannakeppa Katigera (7), daughter Ningamma Ningappa Katigera (35) and sister’s daughter Giremma Ningappa Katigera (11) were charred to death in the accident. His another son, Sannakeppa Katigera (11) is battling for life with grievous injuries.
