Another futile bid to break ATM

The gang arrived in a car at 3 am and parked it a little away from the ATM centre of HDFC Bank. Two persons, armed with knives came out of the car and walked towards the ATM centre. They tied the hands and legs of the security guard, Srinivas, and attempted to break the lock with a knife. When their repeated attempts failed, the two aborted the plan and walked off.

Later, Srinivas approached the police and lodged a complaint. HSR Layout police have booked a case under Sections 380 read with 511 of the IPC and are investigating the matter.

Fire at godown
Textile materials and dhothis (loin cloths) were destroyed in a fire at  a godown in Chandra Layout here on Sunday morning. The fire, suspected to be caused by the butt of a beedi at AR Enterprises, Gangondanahalli, started around 10 am. Eight fire tenders managed to douse the fire around 3 pm. No one was injured in the incident as the godown was closed. Proprietor Fazil Pasha said he was alerted by neighbouring shop owners.

Bharathi Urs released
Bharathi Urs, who was acquitted by a court, was released from the Central Prisons Parappana Agrahara here on Saturday.
A Fast Track Sessions Court acquitted Urs, daughter of former Chief Minister Devaraj Urs and her two associates on May 27. She was arrested by the High Grounds police in connection with the murder of Chitralekha, daughter of former High Court judge M P Chandrakanth Raje Urs, in 2004.
She was not released as a court had issued warrant against her in a cheque bounce case.
She obtained the bail in the cheque bounce case. Hence, she was released, said the Parappana Agrahara police.
