A G Indumathi, a resident of Basaveshwara nagar near Magadi Road Circle, had filed a petition stating that her land measuring 52.72 sq meters had been notified for acquisition for the Metro project.

She said that her family belonged to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category and she and her three daughters have been residing on the property for the last 25 years.
She further submitted that she had to struggle for 14 years to obtain a sale deed for the property, but Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) gave a final notification in January 2008, stating that the land would be acquired.

On May 27, she was informed by BMRCL officials that her house would be demolished. Indumathi stated that she had nt yet received compensation for her property and when she informed the officials about this, they said that they were not responsible for providing compensation.

Indumathi contended that she belonged to a BPL family and hence could not make alternate arrangements, if she was not provided compensation. The High Court has issued an interim stay on dispossession to BMRCL and (KIADB).
