'Use fertiliser to get more yield'

At present 3.15 tonne of yield is being reaped per hectare from the area but in case more fertilisers are used then 10 to 15 tonne yield can be reaped per hectare, said Assistant Horticulture Director Umesh.

Addressing a workshop on palm cultivation on Monday in N R Pura, he said that the centre has earmarked Rs 7 crore for Palm Project. “There are plans to extend palm cultivation in areas where there is good irrigation facility or availability of underground water.”

Assistant Horticulture Director Vasanthi informed about various facilities available under National Horticulture Mission for palm cultivation.

Taluk Palm Growers’ Association President Janaki Ram presided over the programme. Tarikere Assistant Horticulture Director Chethan, Deepak, Lokesh and others were present.
