Pejawar Mutt seer worried over Hindu terrorism

Last Updated 11 July 2010, 17:31 IST

Speaking at the 70th birth anniversary of veteran leader M P Prakash, he said whether it is Islamic or Hindu terror, the act of terrorism should be condemned. “Terrorism has become a menace in the country. It should be curbed at any cost,” he stated.

He, however, said that Hindu terrorism has taken birth only to counter Islamic terrorism. Like naxalism, both Islamic and Hindu terrorism should be condemned. “I appeal to intellectuals to condemn both Hindu and Islamic terrorism,” he added.

Hinduism and secularism are two different things. “I am a secular person. I am a born socialist and strictly follow principles laid down by Mahatma Gandhi. At the same time I believe in Hinduism,” Pejawar pontiff said.

Referring to unseemly incident in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, he said: “Whether it is Vidhana Soudha or outside, goondagiri should not be tolerated. Instead we must all follow Gandhigiri,” he said.

Eshwarappa walks out

Just a mention of Hindu terrorism was enough for State BJP President K S Eshwarappa to lose his cool.

He abruptly walked out of the function when JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy expressed concern over rising Hindu terrorism in the Country.

Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda too walked away with his party president.

Kumaraswamy, during his speech, was explaining how some organisations are spreading terrorism in the name of Hindutva in the country. Eshwarappa then interrupted him and warned that he would walk out if he continues to speak anything against Hindutva.

When the former chief minister continued with his speech, Eshwarappa walked away, much to the surprise of one and all. Congress leader Siddaramaiah tried to pacify him, but in vain.
