Uma Devi blanks Chitra for crown

Uma started the proceedings like a house on fire, completely dominating the first frame to take it comfortably 75-14.

The second frame was a much closer affair, with Chitra refusing to lie down, but Uma prevailed in the latter stages of the frame to win it 78-62.

Leading by two frames, Uma stepped up a gear and took the third frame 77-0 and with it the crown. In the third-place playoff Lakshmi Suryanarayan scored a hard-fought 50-30, 41-50, 51-42 victory over Varsha Sanjeev.

Uma and Chitra also assured themselves of a place in the State team for the Senior Ladies billiards national championship to be held in Pune.

Third-place playoff: Lakshmi Suryanarayan bt Varsha Sanjeev 2-1 (50-30, 41-50, 51-42).

Semifinal: R Uma Devi Nagaraj bt Lakshmi Suryanarayan 2-0 (77-47, 76-39); Chitra M bt Varsha  Sanjeev 2-0 (77-55, 77-21).
