Govt agrees to fund for lexicon project, claims Prasad

Inaugurating Kasargod district 5th Kannada Sahithya Sammelana on Sunday at Daigoli near Manjeshwar, he said that the said Rs 1.45 crore will be distributed equally between all the districts.

There is no mention of Horanadu in this project but it is said that Rs 8 lakh out of another Rs 9 lakh released by the Government will be completely given to Horanadu. “Parishat will request the Government to release more funds for border areas.”

Litterateur M Ramachandra delivering the presidential address said that writers should be like lamps. If a writer estranges himself from values and ethics then literature cannot live for long.

“Writers should be free from pre conceived notions and double standards. We are the people who should mend the wrongs in the society. We should not be a party to anything that is wrong,” he said and lamented that unfortunately a sort of wrestling is going on in literary field too.

MLA stuns all

MLA C H Kunjhabbu inaugurated the book stalls and took everyone by surprise by addressing the gathering in Kannada. He said that teachers who can not speak Kannada have been appointed to Bangramanjeshwara, Paivalike, Kayarkatte and Mangalapady Kannada medium schools. These teachers will be removed and Kannada speaking teachers will be appointed.

“Kerala Tulu Academy will not harm Kannada in any way. It has not been set up to wage war against Kannada,” he clarified. Kerala Tulu Academy President Dr P Venkataraja Punchithaya released the souvenir. Kannada Sahithya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor, DK District President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura among others were present.
