The drains near the shops are filled with unwanted rubbish like plastic bags and tea cups which block them and cause it to fill up with water. People are seen closing their nose and walking as the stench is unbearable, V Nagesh said.

Vice President Anuradha, Members Ethukodi Sashidar, Babu, Srinivas Murthy, Nagraj Reddy and Ram Murthy were present during the occasion.

Commuters complain

In Srinivaspur, however, the road which leads to the crop fields enroute to Nalapalli village in Srinivaspura taluk is filled with garbage complain commuters.

The garbage needs to be cleared at the earliest. The road has private properties on both the sides and the owners have fenced the properties.

Garbage is strewn all around the stone fencing and this has disrupted traffic, bullock carts which ply from the opposite side makes the situation worse.

The garbage has also caused a lot of health problems to the residents living near the road, they added.

A memorandum has been submitted to the higher authorities in this regard.
