Murali stuns Navin

Adopting an unorthodox opening against Khanna, Karthikeyan approached his game aggressively which gave black’s Kingside a lot of space advantage on white’s Queenside.
Karthikeyan smartly defended and destroyed white’s attack which eventually resulted in a full point. Karthikeyan won in 47 moves. In another upset victory, Kartnataka’s Amogha HA -- playing black -- shocked Tamil Nadu’s J Arun. Amogha played the Sicilian defence for Arun’s King pawn opening. Black punished white for losing time and space which subsequently gave a winning advantage for white.
