Learning to lose gracefully

The foundation of the Student Council was initially laid with the election of the various class representatives. In a highly democratic process, 52 class representatives were elected from 26 sections of I and II PUC and from among them  27 candidates contested for the posts of office bearers of the Students' Council.

A panel comprising of faculty members interviewed the candidates for the various posts and after much campaigning and competition, the student council was formed.

 “It was a highly enriching experience and a good life lesson,” said the candidates, who did not make it eventually but who learnt how to lose gracefully.

The results of the council election were:

  Karan Kapur was elected President, Rony Joe - the Vice President  (who has also been – selected to represent India at the International Youth Convocation to be held at Yokohama, Japan this month). Sanjay Sukumaran - Junior Vice President, Sagar Kukreja- General Secretary - Mohammed Aiman- Joint Secretary,  Pilith Perico - Cultural Secretary  and Vijay Kumar - the Sports Secretary and an avid cricketer, who has played 48 matches for the State.

The executive members include Bhargav Sosale, Pramod Pratap and Diamond Sri Sri. “SJPUC also has 22 associations which conduct non-stop activities throughout the year. Identifying, creating opportunities and showcasing the talents of our institution. The Council along with its associations promises to flame the spirit of togetherness in the days to come,” said Prof Sudarshan, Governor of the Student Council.
