Fight to end BJP rule: Rahul

Last Updated 15 August 2010, 02:10 IST

Interacting with State Congress leaders at the KPCC office in Bangalore, Rahul praised them for their 320-km “Bellary Chalo” padayatra against illegal mining and “failures” of the BJP government.

“You have done a good job. Continue your fight.... Take on the BJP government and ensure the defeat of communal forces through democratic methods,” Rahul told senior leaders at the KPCC auditorium during his 20-minute closed-door interaction.

Rahul’s visit to Karnataka is seen as a carefully crafted strategy by the Congress to keep the momentum going for its campaign against the BJP government. The State Congress is already on a high following the public support it received during the padayatra. The timing of Rahul’s visit also coincided with the BJP’s ‘Janajagruthi Samavesha’ in Mysore, attended by senior leader L K Advani.
