Addressing a conference on Challenges to Indian Copyright Law, organised by the Centre for IPR Research and Advocacy (CIPRA) and NLSIU, he called upon the need of laws saying “The films and music can be easily accessed through the internet, which might lead to the threat of piracy,”  Venkat Rao said.

He said like United States of America and United Kingdom which already have their own norms in tackling this problem, India too needs to come up with the norms at the earliest.
Venkat Rao said the number of net users had increased and the new technology had heralded a new era and brought in sweeping changes in the world.

The seminar was aimed at discussing and mitigating new challenges  in copyright law.
