Man trampled to death by elephant

 
The deceased has been identified as Devasegowda (50). It is said that a wild elephant suddenly attacked Devasegowda, Karaboojegowda and Nanjunda, who were grazing their cattle at D B Kuppe forest range on Saturday.

While Devasegowda was trampled to death, Karaboojegowda and Nanjunda managed to escape and ran to their village and informed the villagers.

 Learning about the incident, the Department officials searched for the body of Devasegowda upto 10 pm on Saturday and found the body only at around 7 am on Sunday. Deputy Conservator of Forests Chandrashekar, Zonal officer A V Satish visited the spot and informed the police.

A case has been registered. Police handed over the body  to the family of Devasegowda after post mortem.
