Biggest floral carpet in the making

Spread over a massive 15,000 square feet, the flowers will be brought from Tamil Nadu. The floral 'artistes' will have two hours to take a shot at the record.

'Titled 'Sneha poookalam' the design was selected from 15 entries. People from all walks of the life who believe in the concept of religious harmony and universal brotherhood can take part in the event, being held as part of Onam celebrations,' District Collector Dr P B Salim said.

The previous record was set in 2008 at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor stadium at Ernakulam, where Kerala Police prepared a 'Jana Maithri pookkalam' over 12000 square feet.

District authorities have contacted the Guinness Book authorities at London to make an on-the-spot assessment of the flower carpet.
