1 held, fake notes seized

They seized fake currency notes having a face value of Rs 85,000 from him. Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Raghavendra said the arrested, Ansar-ul-Haq (21), was staying at Lakshmi Niwas Lodge on Station Road in Hubli and tendered a fake Rs 1,000 note to purchase a bottle of whisky at Shakti Bar.

The bar manager who smelt something fishy in Ansar-ul-Haq’s approach called the police. Hubli City police rushed to the spot caught Ansar-ul-Haq and seized the fake currency from him.

They searched his room at the lodge and found 84 more fake notes of Rs 1,000 denomination. The police suspect that he might have transacted fake currency notes at other places too.
