Farmers go in for alternative crops

Many feel that ginger and banana crops will give them sustainable income. Growing paddy has become a tiresome activity for the farmers in the recent years.

The farmers plouging the land has become a rare sight. More and more tractors and tillers are used. With the change in weather, many farmers have said goodbye to paddy and have started growing ginger and banana.

On the one hand, urbanisation has taken away paddy fields. On the other hand, alternative crops have taken away paddy cultivation. What will happen if we do not grow paddy? We are growing ginger, banana and arcanut in the agriculture land. The agriculture land will remain farm land, feel farmers. Several farmers in Napoklu have started growing palm as well in the paddy fields.
