Krishna resigns as C'magalur CMC chief

 Talking to media persons after resignation, Krishna said he had taken up developmental works in all 35 wards irrespective of party considerations, and all Councillors had cooperated with him during his term.

With the efforts of the MLA, the State government has released Rs 4 crore for the development of the city. Box drainage and asphaltation of the roads are being done with the amount. The revenue of the CMC has improved since tax recovery has been made strict, he explained.

The development of the Santhe Maidan is under progress. Different projects have been taken up with Rs 5.37 crore State Finance Commission grant, Krishna said.

Water tanks have been proposed in different layouts of the city to improve drinking water supply. Rs 1.5 lakh has already been given to the Water Supply and Sewage Board in this connection. Water wastage has been stopped by repairing the 600 mm-diameter pipe line, supplying water from the Yagachi dam, he added.

An estimation of Rs 2.90 crore has been prepared for supplying water from the Hirekolale tank by making use of the gravitational power. About Rs 28 crore has been sanctioned for the city UGD. An action plan has been submitted to the government in this regard, he informed.

CMC members Premkumar, Thammaiah, Pushparaj, BJP city unit president Rajappa were present.
