JOIN US"The case was registered at Sahadevkhunta police station against Collector Manish Verma for wrongful restraint, causing hurt, abusing and mischief by causing damage following a complaint," Inspector In-charge, Sahadevkhunta police station D Sahu said.
Verma, meanwhile, denied the allegations and said, "I have no knowledge of any such incident."
According to the allegation made against the collector on August 23, there was a traffic jam on the road in which the vehicle of collector was stranded for a while.
The collector allegedly came out of the vehicle used abusive language and beat up three people with a stick who were in a vehicle ahead of his, according to the complaint lodged by a relative of one of the assaulted persons.
The three persons were admitted to District Headquarters hospital here, it claimed.
Though the alleged incident occurred on August 23, the case was registered yesterday, sources said.
Students of local Fakir Mohan College staged a road blockade yesterday and demanded thorough inquiry against the collector. Similarly, a protest meeting was held by a citizens group here demanding immediate action against the Collector.
