Did you know that swings aid your kid’s healthy development? The rhythmic movement relaxes and calms down a fretful child. Besides, it assumes an important role in sensory integration therapy. An array of therapy swings addressing different kinds of juvenile shortcomings awaits you. The sheer variety of sizes, designs, prices, safety features and life-spans of indoor swings today is amazing! Consider your child’s specific needs, the space available at your residence and your budget before you select one.

Spotted outdoors, wooden, metal swings, sling type swings, rope swings or toddler swings ensure the minutes march pleasantly by. But, what if your dwelling doesn’t have a backyard that’s big enough for a swing? What if you’re desperate on a rainy day to keep mischief and your youngster miles apart? Indoor swings rush to your rescue! What should you bear in mind while purchasing a swing? First, choose one that’s strong, sturdy and stable. And, don’t forget the aesthetics angle! No matter how safe and sinewy the swing maybe, junior may only jilt the staid piece! Consult him or her about the swing you’re buying. Planning to install it yourself? Then, knowledge of correct installation methods is a prerequisite. Learn it before you set up the swing. Also, double-check for any faults in equipment or installation before letting baby swing on it. Pulling and pushing it will reveal anomalies, if any. Pick a model that’s appropriate for the space and decor style of the room that’ll play host to the play-piece. Visiting the store after obtaining measurements of the space would be wise. Ensure the seat’s padding and frame are robust enough to endure your kid’s swinging.

Buying a swing for a toddler? Then, first check whether the swing-seat with the half-bucket shape can adequately support the tender spine. Rounded edges guarantee comfort. Do confirm the bolts or screws are firm and don’t protrude menacingly.

Which type should you buy? Moulded plastic swings are economical, but usually suitable only for toddlers. Wooden swings are the most common. If you’re opting for a steel swing, look for a rust-free, heavy-duty, galvanised steel body. Despite scoring high on durability, the steel swing falls short on the appearance front! Where should you accommodate it? A long room with exposed ceiling beams is the perfect choice. Leave enough space around the swing to permit comfortable walking and safe distance from windows, walls and doors. The usual dimension advised is a space around the swing-set twice as wide as the height of the swing-set pivots. Provide chairs or benches for adults watching kids playing. Rubber floor tiles are recommended to cushion falls better. But, gear up for high maintenance effort for the surface-material beneath a swing.  Where chains or ropes need to be fixed into the overhead beam, first determine if the ceiling area is secure enough. Also, decide where it’s safest to drill into. Use a screw that’s strong and large enough to support the weight of not merely the swing but the user too.
Strange noises or a lopsided look when in use are alarm signals. Seek the help of a technical expert or the store where you purchased it from at the first sign. Allowing older kids to mess around with it may trigger early wearing out or insidious unravelling, harming your little one!
